Bigjeeze Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 See DOA's answer above!!!! Cos these are classic signs of water in the control box. The box of tricks that controls the interior lights and the windows and central locking is under the front passenger seat. When you get a leak - either as aresult of the scuttles blocking or the washer pipe bursting or even a leaking window - this area floods and it buggers up the box. This happened to my Mk1 - after finding and fixing the leak (scuttles in my case) I removed the box opened the case - drained out the water - and as mine was covered in greenish gunky stuff I washed and scrubbed it under the tap then put it in the oven for a while to help it dry. Once I put it back together it all seemed to wrk fine - and in fact is still working. I did seal the box and also encased it in plastic and now I am paranoid about blocked scuttles so check them every couple of weeks. I took the inner wings off to get at the scuttles and that seems to be the best way as leaves and other muck collects at the drainage points and cause the problem. Good Luck  Quote
cos 4x4 Posted March 8, 2006 Author Report Posted March 8, 2006 will have to check on the weekend when its dry also do you have to take the front seats out to remove the front carpet Quote

nosniktap Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 ive sat in the car an pushed my feet on all doors to try and simulate going round a corner, and, apart from looking like a prat in my driveway, the lights only come on when the car is moving.....very strange! Quote
